Introduction

The Comune di Villafranca Sìcula would like to thank your participation in the project
“+VILLAFRANCAS + EUROPAS”, which will be held in July in cooperation with Villafranca de los Barros (Spain), Freistadt (Austria) and Frumoasa (Romania) within the framework of the Youth in Action Programme.

This project is the result of the Feasibility Visit in which we all participated in Villafranca de los Barros in November 2010 and it is the first of a total of 5 exchanges that we plan to carry out between 2011 and 2013.
The activity will consist of an exchange between 5 groups of young people coming from Italy, Spain, Portugal, Austria and Romania and will be held in Villafranca Sìcula (Italy) from the 1st to the 10th of July 2011.

This project has been designed for young people aged 15 to 30 with the following objectives:
• To get youngsters involved in the process of local development, giving them a chance to become active citizens.
• To increase their tolerance, starting from the point that they all come from villages which share a common name despite the difference in traditions and ways of life.
• To achieve mutual understanding among youngsters from different nationalities and different cultural backgrounds.
• To create a space in which youngsters can feel confident to promote future projects.
